About Us
Filipino-inspired gelato parlour on Leeds Street beside Footscray Market — the brand's first permanent bricks-and-mortar shop (opened January 2022) for chefs John Rivera (Askal, ex-Lume and Sunda) and Minh Duong (ex-Maha), with partner Michael Mabuti. The name references kariton street-vendor ice-cream carts; scoops are churned in-house in small batches from Gippsland Jersey dairy with about a dozen flavours on display from a 25+ flavour repertoire, plus daily soft serves and handheld treats. Pastel rattan-panelled room with a galvanised steel arch and open production kitchen — cups, cones, tubs or Breadtop milk buns, no table bookings. Signature ube halaya draws queues for the "purple stuff"; buko pandan, leche flan, turon and weekly specials such as taho soft serve round out the menu. No published store telephone — see phoneNotes; brand contact is contact@karitonsorbetes.com.
