About Us
Oden is the Ishizuka group's oden-focused Japanese sake bar on Bourke Street — a Russell & George-designed ground-floor room next to sister restaurant Ishizuka at 139 Bourke, led by owner Melanie Zhang and Executive Chef Katsuji Yoshino. The experience is positioned as a sake bar first: guests build individual pots of seasonal ingredients in house oden broth (daikon, fish cakes, tofu, seafood and luxe add-ins) alongside charcoal-grilled yakitori, share plates, Nick Tesar highballs and a wide curated sake list. Counter seating faces the open kitchen; a backyard garden extends the room for drinks. Online reservations for up to eight guests (1.5-hour sittings) via the official site; walk-ins welcome when space allows. Lunch Sat–Sun 12:00–2:30pm; dinner Wed–Mon from 4:00pm (official contact, May 2026). Sunday 10% surcharge applies.
