About Us
Stalactites is the Konstandakopoulos family's Greek restaurant on the corner of Lonsdale and Russell streets in Melbourne CBD's Greek precinct — open since 1978 from the same corner with spit-roasted lamb and chicken gyros, house-made dips, chargrilled skewers and Peloponnese-style home dishes such as moussaka and arni lemonato. The bustling dining room's faux-stalactite ceiling and all-hours energy make it a Melbourne institution for pre-theatre meals, family lunches and late-night souvlaki: Sunday to Thursday 11am–midnight, Friday and Saturday until 2am. Walk-ins are always welcome; groups of six or more can book lunch any day and groups of eight or more dinner Sunday–Thursday via OpenTable (no bookings after 4pm Fri–Sat). The menu spans wrapped souvlakia from about $21, shared Meat and gyros platters, and Coeliac Australia–accredited gluten-free options; pickup and DoorDash delivery run seven days.
